Musicians of Zion Shine the Light of the Glory of God in Unity

The 2010 “Summer Workshop for Orchestra Members Nationwide” was held for the musicians of Zion who had been praising God and conveying touching emotions to our neighbors around the world through beautiful melodies. This workshop was held for two nights and three days from August 15 to help the performers improve their musical literacy and skills. Over 300 members—the Messiah Orchestra members who had successfully finished their concert tour for the first half of 2010 and the chamber orchestra members from ten regions including Seoul, Incheon, Daegu and Gwangju—attended the workshop.

The workshop started with a concert at the Okcheon Go&Come Training Institute. Mother commended the members who had spared no effort even in unfavorable circumstances, and awakened them by saying, “Now the truth of the new covenant is spreading rapidly throughout the world and people from all nations are streaming to Zion according to the prophecies of the Bible. In this prophetic time, God blesses those who try their best to carry out the mission given to them with an ardent desire to proclaim the glory of God to the whole world, and sets them high above all the nations of the earth.” She also blessed them to be the orchestras that would surprise the world with performances full of hope for the salvation of souls.

General Pastor Joo-Cheol Kim urged the members, saying, “The heavenly melody is accomplished when you play your instruments with an undivided heart for the gospel. Please keep yourselves from being exhausted even in difficult situations, and always rejoice and give thanks for doing what displays the glory of God, so that you can bring forth happiness and emotions.” Additionally, he hoped that the workshop would be a good opportunity for the members to improve their performance skills and to foster their faith as well by helping one another.

The concert began with the performance of a local chamber orchestra. All the chamber orchestras demonstrated their musical skills which they had cultivated, and gave all their best; some of them had been organized only a couple of years ago and were improving their skills day after day, and others had just recently been organized. Soon after, the Messiah Orchestra gave a magnificent and powerful performance, which was its first performance since it had recently been expanded to 120 members—its original goal.

From the next day, the main part of the workshop started at the Elohim Training Institute. Being divided into four groups of instruments—strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion, the members took lessons from the instructors and practiced together. With the love of Mother, who gave them a warm round of applause, they concentrated on practicing with a resolution to display God’s glory by playing their instruments in harmony with one another in mind.

After finishing the workshop, the members showed their firm determination, saying, “We truly give thanks to God for giving us, Their weak children, the opportunity to display God’s glory through music, and for clothing us with the power of the Holy Spirit as well. We will put our minds and hearts together and make efforts to be greatly used for the gospel work which God is carrying out.”
