On May 26, over 3,000 youths of Church of God held "The 2nd Campaign to Save the Han River," under the catch-phrase "Green World Cup." The environmental-ists of Church of God have made efforts to protect environment through various activities. The campaign to save the Han River is the representative one. The participants see the pollution of the river with their own eyes and come to realize the importance of water-purity control.


"Let the world people come to drink the first class water of the Han River"

General Pastor Kim Joo-cheol encouraged the youth through the opening address: "Water is our life from the beginning of the earth. Such precious water is getting contaminated owing to people's unconcern. Let's continue this campaign until the world people come to drink the first class water of the Han River." And Kim Chung-hwan, the head of Gangdong Ward Office, said, "The polluted Han River is a warning against the people who despise God's law and violate the environment. However, the Han River can be purified again by you." As he introduced a good example of the Thames, he expressed his gratitude to the youth for their efforts.

The young volunteers picked up trash around the river bank for about 2 hours. On one side, they led citizens to have concern about the environment by launching a signaturecollecting drive for saving the Han River. And members who could dive removed junk deep in the river.
